817 Convention Plaza, 1874
The preceding story was printed in the April 11, 1874 edition of the New York Times (available for free online); the crime occurred at 817 Morgan Street (renamed Convention Plaza/Delmar Boulevard). Fortmeyer was sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary, from which she escaped shortly thereafter (I could find no record of her capture). 817 Convention Plaza is now the site of a Holiday Inn.

Reading that article it appears that the address listed was 1,817 Morgan or 1817 Morgan Street (now Delmar).
That would put the house here:

I considered that option, actually, but I think that the location was an apartment house (in which the crime occurred at No. 1) at 817 Morgan, which makes more sense to me given that the area in the 800 block of Morgan was a well-known red light district and among the roughest neighborhoods in St. Louis.
